Dwight & Edgewood

Including the West River Neighborhood

The Dwight Neighborhood sits West of Downtown and stretches westward towards the West River. The area was pasture and farms, part of the Yorkshire and Hertfordshire Quarters during Colonial days. By the early 19th century residential neighborhoods began to spill over from Dowtown and the carriage manufacturers on Park Street. The neighborhood was home to some famous Americans including Artie Shaw, Walter Camp and Robert Moses.
